Happy Halloween and what a BUSY day!

WARNING!!! THIS BLOG CONTAINS LOTS OF PICTURES!

We had a full day of things to do this Halloween. First on our list was to go downtown to the National Mall where Autism Speaks was holding Walk Now For Autism. Casey and I wanted to be a part of it to support all the other families who are living each and everyday with the challenges AND JOYS of raising a child with autism. :)

There was also a Resource Fair where their were lots of booths set up with all different kinds of information on a variety of things. For the most part, Autism Speaks supports and funds research on the genetics of autism and how it affects children. At this point in time, unfortunately, they do not subscribe to biomedical approach of autism that we so fully support and have witnessed Austin improve with these treatments. I guess it will just take more time! :) What Autism Speaks does support is all different types of behavioral therapy which is SO IMPORTANT TOO! Austin receives 27 hours a week of ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis) and Casey and I are looking into getting Austin 4-5 hours a week of Speech Therapy in addition. So we were able to get some helpful info today at the fair.

After the walk was over it was time to go home and get ready for our neighborhood Halloween party at the playground. Our neighborhood does this every year and it is so much fun for the kids. They have food and drinks and the kids get to run around and play at the park. Austin's favorite thing to do! :)

They had a bunch of games and things for the kids to do while at the walk.

Tin Man Austin!

Cowardly Lion Austin!

Here we are doing our walking.

After the walk was over we slipped into the Museum of Natural History to look around before going home.

Heading out to the neighborhood Halloween party.

Our cheesy dragon! :)

This is one of neighbors, Mia, who we play with a lot. Like Austin's face? :)

There we go! That is better!

Having a fight with the cob webs.

These are our other neighbors, Joey and Frankie.
