Blessings in the Blackburn House

One phrase is currently being SCREAMED in our home right now and that is PRAISE GOD! We truly have so much to be thankful for these days. The combination of yeast treatment and moving Austin to daily MB12 shots is really making a difference. We are seeing Austin use language in a way he has never done before.

For the most part, Austin has been non-verbal. He has ALWAYS babbled and occasionally we would hear a word but not ever used properly. It would always seem very random and just come out of left field.

Since starting this new treatment about 3 weeks ago we have seen a HUGE increase in Austin repeating words we say and finishing phrases we begin! :) YAY!!! You have really no idea how wonderful it feels to finally see Austin making steps in his development. Casey and I both truly believe we are witnessing our son recovering from autism. We are still in the beginning stages and know we still have a tough battle ahead for the next several years but we are so pleased to see the benefits from what we have been doing. :)

This is such an awesome video that we wanted to share with everyone. Let me set up this clip. We have always sung a modified version of the Patty Cake Song with Austin and done hand motions too. When we would pause at a certain point in the song to encourage Austin to show us what to do he would take our hands and show us what the next motion was in the song. Then, for the 1st time ever last night, we were singing the song and Austin actually said the last line without us prompting hims at all! OMG!!! He continues to amaze us everyday and we are so very proud of him and how far he has come in the last year. Without further adieu, I present to you the AMAZING and AWESOME AUSTIN! :)

(BTW...the modified version of the song is "Patty cake patty cake baker's man, roll (drawn out really long) it up and, throw it in a pan!)

Katy, that is awesome! What a blessing!! (BTW, we use a similar modified version -- I think b/c my mom forgot the words when she started singing it to my kids!) :) Austin is adorable!

I'm so proud of Austin! I love that his speech is so clear. It's like he's just been saving up his words in there. Awesome!!!!
